Questions about relocating to Portugal. If you’re researching the Silver Coast, comparing towns, or trying to understand the NHR tax regime, D7 visa, or school options — feel free to contact us. We’re not lawyers or accountants, but we share what we’ve learned and can point you toward the right resources.
Corrections and feedback. We try to keep everything on this blog accurate and up to date, but rules and situations change. If you’ve spotted something outdated or incorrect, please contact us — we’ll update it quickly and credit you if you’d like.
Collaboration and press. If you represent a brand, tourism board, or service relevant to families relocating to Portugal and would like to explore working together, contact us with a brief overview and we’ll come back to you within a few days.

If your question is one that might help other readers, we may turn it into a post (anonymously, unless you tell us you’re happy to be named).
A few things we’re not able to help with via this contact page: specific legal or tax advice (please consult a qualified professional for that), accommodation bookings, or anything that needs a fast turnaround. For urgent matters, email works faster: hello@ournewhometown.com.
Frequently asked questions
Do you reply to every contact message? Yes — we read everything and reply to all questions that aren’t spam. If you haven’t heard back within a week, check your spam folder or send a follow-up.
Can you recommend a lawyer or accountant for our Portugal move? We can share who we’ve spoken to or researched, but we don’t make formal referrals. Check our resources page for links we’ve found useful — and always do your own due diligence.
We’re also planning to move to the Silver Coast — can we swap notes? Absolutely. That’s one of the best reasons to contact us. The more people comparing notes on this, the better for everyone making the move.

Alongside this contact page, here are a few external resources worth bookmarking if you’re seriously planning a move to Portugal. The ACM (Alto Comissariado para as Migrações) handles official immigrant support in Portugal and has English-language resources on visas and residency. The ePortugal portal is the government’s main gateway for administrative processes including NIF applications and address registration.
For the Silver Coast specifically, the Peniche and Óbidos municipal websites have information on local services, school registration, and municipal support for new residents. It takes some navigating — if you contact us after hitting a wall there, we’re happy to share what we’ve figured out.
A quick note about who runs this blog
This blog is run by Patrick — a German living in Paris with his French-Portuguese wife and two daughters, aged 9 and 3. We’re not expats yet. We’re a family planning a move to the Silver Coast Portugal within the next five years, documenting the research and process as we go. Everything on this site is based on our own experience, research, and the network we’ve been building with people who’ve already made the move.
